Comfort and support ratings refer to back and stomach sleepers
Comfort and support ratings refer to side sleepers and predominantly side sleepers
As you can see, from an overall standpoint, Nectar and Nectar Lush are neck and neck. If we carried the decimal out further, there’d be more difference in the overall rating. Mattresses designed for side sleepers tend to cost more because they require more relief for pressure points. The bottom line is that the best mattress is one designed for the way you sleep.
Nectar, one of the most popular beds-in-a-box because of the value proposition the mattress provides, has introduced Nectar Lush. Nectar Lush is an upgrade from Nectar. Nectar was designed for customers who are more interested in value than overall comfort, although Nectar delivers a comfortable sleep to their customers, it isn’t the most luxurious experience you can imagine from a bed.
Nectar’s newest model, the Nectar Lush, provides a more luxurious feel that is perfect for full-time side sleepers. Back and stomach sleepers may prefer Nectar.
This side-by-side comparison will help you decide which Nectar is made for you.
Nectar Mattress Overview
Nectar is an 11-inch mattress that is ideal for back and stomach sleepers, including those who experience back pain. The mattress has become famous for providing great value for the money.
It features four layers that combine to provide good support in a mattress with a Forever Warranty™. The first layer is a 1-inch gel quilted foam topper that is soft and fluffy. The second layer of gel memory foam cools the mattress and allows it to breathe. Beneath that is an adaptive hi-core foam that provides a transition layer between the memory foam and the breathing base layer.
We provide more detail about the construction of the mattress in the section dedicated to mattress construction.
Nectar Lush Mattress Overview
Nectar Lush is a 12-inch thick mattress that provides a wonderful mattress for side sleepers and combination sleepers who sleep predominantly on their side. This newly introduced mattress fills a previous gap in Nectar’s lineup that makes Nectar a brand that side sleepers can appreciate, too.
Nectar Lush delivers the pressure relief side sleepers need to sleep comfortably. With enhanced cooling properties, you’ll be able to sleep cool and comfortably which increases the ability to achieve deep sleep. During deep sleep is when the body repairs cellular damage that occurs during the day.
The mattress has a 3-inch gel infused memory foam layer, a 2-inch transition layer that adds bounce, and both of them are supported by 7-inches of foam.
Nectar vs Nectar Lush Mattress (Detailed Review)
Construction and Materials
Nectar’s cover is an inch thick, with gel quilted foam that provides a soft, cushiony layer that helps to keep you cool.
The next layer is a 3-inch layer of gel memory foam that will respond to your movements while providing the support you need. Your weight will be evenly distributed by this layer that also helps keep you cool.
Beneath the memory foam layer is a 1.75-inch Adaptive Hi-Core Foam layer that transitions the support between the memory foam and the base core support layer. This layer keeps you on the mattress and prevents you from sinking too deeply into the mattress.
The bottom layer is a 5.25-inch layer that breathes and stabilizes the mattress. With nonstop air flow, this layer helps distribute heat, so you don’t overheat. This layer uses vegetable oil to make the foams which also reduces its ability to retain heat the way petroleum-based foams often do.
All the layers work together to control motion transfer. With a total of 11-inches of cool comfort, Nectar contours to your lumbar area, providing support and pressure relief.
All the foams used in Nectar are CertiPUR-US® certified by independent testing.
Nectar Lush Mattress
Nectar Lush’s cover is woven with alternating nylon and polyethylene yarns. The materials are specially selected to flex when you lay on the mattress and polyethylene draws heat away from your body as you slumber.
The next layer is 3-inches of memory foam infused with Phase Change Material (PCM) gel that helps regulate your body temperature while you sleep. It will both help you stay cool and keep you warm if you become too cool.
This layer provides pressure relief side sleepers need for their hips and shoulders. The memory foam will cradle your body in absolute comfort as you sleep. Designed to encourage deep sleep that helps restore your body while you sleep.
The second layer is 2-inches of viscoelastic foam that creates a bounce-factor that makes Nectar Lush as good for sexual activities as latex and sprung mattresses. This layer also provides the support needed to keep you on top of the mattress.
The bottom layer is 7-inches of extra dense memory foam that solidly supports the upper levels.
All the layers of Nectar lush are engineered to provide superior support while feeling lofty and regulating your temperature.
The layers work with one another to control motion transfer and provide 12-inches of comfort that will help you sleep deeply every night.
The overall winner in this category is Nectar Lush because it is created with superior materials and a special layer to add bounciness during intimate moments.
Feel and Performance: Nectar vs Nectar Lush Mattress
Our reviewers gave Nectar an average firmness of 6.5 on a scale of 1 – 10. It’s a medium to medium-firm. The heavier a person’s body is, the softer it will feel. It’s firm enough to be comfortable for stomach sleepers, yet soft enough for side sleepers.
You’ll sink in to the top memory foam layers some but not enough to feel stuck in the mattress.
When you lay on your back, the mattress will conform to your lumber area, providing needed support. The memory foam reacts quickly when you roll over, so you’ll be able to get comfortable quickly.
For full-time side sleepers, the memory foam in the Nectar won’t be enough. If you’re a combination sleeper, Nectar could work for you. If you have big, broad shoulders, it might not provide enough pressure relief for your shoulders.
If you are a stomach sleeper, a back sleeper, or a combination sleeper who isn’t primarily a side sleeper, Nectar will perform wonderfully. Many back sleepers enjoy improvements with back pain when they sleep on Nectar.
Depending on the size of the body of the reviewer, Nectar Lush was rated a firmness feeling of 5.5 – 7.5 out of 10, ten being the firmest. It feels softer to people whose bodies are heavier. The 3” upper memory foam layer depresses more under a heavy body than a lightweight body.
Nectar Lush provides an ideal sleeping surface for side sleepers and combination sleepers who primarily sleep on their side and combination sleepers who rarely sleep on their stomach. The memory foam will mold to your curves, including your lumbar area, providing the support you need so your muscles can relax fully while you sleep.
You will feel supported while avoiding pressure points that can cause aches and even injuries in your shoulders and hips.
On your side, your shoulders and hips will sink in until your spine is straight. You’ll be able to use a lower pillow because you don’t have to raise your head up to keep the weight off your shoulder, a practice that can cause neck aches.
Response and Motion Transfer: Nectar vs Nectar Lush Mattress
Nectar has fast reacting memory foam. This makes rolling over easy. The superior motion transfer ensures that your sleeping partner won’t be disturbed when you roll over and you won’t disturb them.
Sleeping on a bed with great motion transfer makes a world of difference. When your partner gets up in the middle of the night, it won’t wake you up. This allows you to sleep more in less time.
Slow reacting foams can make it difficult to roll over. You won’t have that problem with Nectar’s responsive foams in your bed.
Nectar Lush Mattress
Nectar Lush also has reactive and responsive memory foam that won’t leave you stuck in place or make rolling over difficult.
While Nectar Lush still has good motion transfer control, the added bounce that enhances intimacy will cause some motion transfer when someone plops down on the bed. It won’t cause disruptions if someone is just rolling over or gently getting in and out of the bed.
Nectar is better for motion transfer control. Nectar Lush is better for its reactive foams. So, each mattress wins one half of this comparison.
Edge Support: Nectar vs Nectar Lush Mattress
Nectar doesn’t have any features that enhance edge support. When you’re lying on the mattress, the edge support is fine because your body’s weight is spread out over a large area. If you have mobility challenges, sitting on the edge of the mattress could be challenging if your feet don’t easily reach the floor where you can stop yourself from sliding. If your body is back from the edge, such as when the edge is up against the back of your knees, you should be supported.
Nectar Lush Mattress
Nectar Lush also doesn’t have features to enhance edge support. However, the core support of Nectar Lush is denser and thicker than Nectar, so it provides more support. It still isn’t the best choice for someone with severe mobility challenges. Frail individuals should make sure the mattress is low enough that their feet can reach the ground to prevent them from sliding off.
Nectar Lush Mattress wins this category by a narrow margin.
Pricing: Nectar vs Nectar Lush Mattress
(not including sales)
Nectar Lush Price
(not including sales)
These prices are the list price. They run sales for both mattresses. Nectar is considerably less expensive than Nectar Lush which is made with upgraded materials that improve performance, especially for side sleepers and those who tend to sleep hot.
The overall winner is the Nectar mattress. Their reputation as the best value for the money is well deserved. If you want a more luxurous feel, the Nectar Lush is a good option.

365-Night No-risk Sleep Trial
Both mattresses offer a 365-night no-risk sleep trial with free shipping for returns.
Both Nectar and Nectar Lush are backed by a Forever Warranty™ that will replace the mattress during the first 10 years, repair or replace defects, including a 1.5” visible indention or cracking of the foam for the life of the mattress or provide you a brand new mattress for 50% of the price you paid for your Nectar or Nectar Lush Mattress. After the 10th year, there is a $50 charge each way for warranty service, but it may be waived if a defect is present.
While a Forever Warranty™ is great, a visible 1.5” indentation is .75” deeper than some competitors now require for the warranty to kick in so we can’t rate it a 10.
Be sure to unpack your mattress within 90 days. Failure to do so is misuse and voids the warranty.
Both mattresses are supported by the same employee owned company, so you can expect great service for either mattress.
